The purpose of this article is to explain how to add or change images on the public gallery top Slideshow (VIME Gallery of Images) which can be found here – https://vime.ca/vime-gallery-of-images/.
The gallery is set up and handled via the left column admin menu under the ‘MetaSlider’ item.
Once on that page you will see the current gallery as it shows on the page. You can now do a number of things to the existing images but for the most part we will concern ourselves to these main points
- Add more slides
- Add Captions
- Re-arrange images
- Place Slideshow on a Page
Let’s begin with Add More Slides…
Once on the Metaslider page, there is a menu at the top that will allow you to Add Slide
Click on ‘Add Slide’
This will open up the Media Library (if you are unfamiliar with how the Media Library works, see the earlier article on How to Add Images to the Media Library). From here you can either select an image that is already in the Media Library or Upload a New Image (‘Upload Files’).
Select the image you want to add (or images as more than one can be added by selecting multiple images). Then click the ‘Add to Slideshow’ blue button near the bottom.![]()
This will take you back to the Gallery Slideshow. The image(s) added will appear at the bottom of all the other images currently in the gallery. You can simply click Save now and the new images will be added to the gallery at the end of the slideshow.
Add Captions…
Captions will appear under the images on the slideshow in white lettering against a dark background. If the image had a title when it was added to the Media Library, you can select the Media library caption radio button and the slide will use that as the caption (and likewise for the Description instead if that was entered).
Conversely, you can also manually add a caption in the space provided by selecting the ‘Enter manually’ option.
Again, to make sure the changes stick, be sure to click the Save menu item.
Re-arrange Images in the Gallery…
The images can easily be re-arranged by click and dragging the top grey bar of the image. You can drag it above or below the other images in the gallery to change the order of how they appear in the gallery.
Again, to make sure the changes stick, be sure to click the Save menu item.
Place Slideshow on a Page
The Slideshow can easily be added to any page. Click to copy the ‘shortcode’. Navigate to the page you wish to add the Slideshow to and hit the Edit Page in the top black menu bar. Place your cursor anywhere within the content and paste in the copied code. Hit Update on the right side and the Slideshow will now appear where you pasted it.
To remove the Slideshow, simply delete the shortcode from the page where it was added and hit the Update button.
Note; only administrators who can edit pages will be able to use this method.
